Our Story

Very early in my career as a financial planner, I realised that as a business we could make a very significant difference to people’s financial lives and security. I knew that it wasn’t all about series of transactions, but making sure that at different life stages, clients have access to advice that was appropriate to where they were at. Advice needs change as people move through life and financial plans need to adapt to these changes.

As a business I feel that we have indeed been able to assist people meet their financial aspirations and to be available when, on occasion, dramatic events impact on individuals and their families. Many businesses often talk about cradle to grave services, but I believe it is the financial planning profession where this is truly reflected, and this is the depth of service we continue to strive to achieve.

I’ve worked in financial planning for close to four decades and over that time there have been very many significant changes to the financial landscape. But what has remained a constant is the need for financial advice. I have often speculated that I would by now have been replaced by a robot! Institutions have tried this unsuccessfully because they failed to understand that financial planning is truly all about deep, personal, long-term relationships.

One of the problems we all face is that we get older, and I’m now coming towards the end of my career as I approach retirement. Over the last 10 years though we have been planning for my succession so that clients can continue to receive first class financial planning advice over the decades to come. As an employer, I have always believed in bringing in individuals who are not only skilled but also eager to grow. The goal is to foster an environment where employees feel valued and supported, providing them with ample opportunities to develop professionally.

Aligning with this approach, my son Jack was the first to join me at David Mason Financial Planning and qualify as a financial planner. His sharp mind and dedication quickly earned him respect among clients. Soon after, his wife Melanie also decided to dive into the world of finance, joining the team and becoming an adviser herself. Jack E and Dannii, were the final two additions to our advising team and together, these four bring a dynamic, fresh perspective to the Practice, combined with my years of industry experience. As a family-run team, we have managed to create a close-knit, client-focused environment that blends personal and professional experience seamlessly.

Behind the scenes we have also focused on building a strong administrative team to support our financial advisers. All of this ensure seamless support and efficiency, ultimately delivering a high-quality, personalised experience for each client.

We now have in place four exceptional individuals that will continue to provide the service that clients have enjoyed over the years. They are gifted individuals, but as a team they are exceptional.

As an existing client or someone looking for the best possible financial planning advice then you can rest assured that this business and the people in it will be available to you today and for many years to come.”
